Wonder Workshop Supports STEM Education at the Club

logo_full-blackClub kids have a new way to engage in STEM education through our new partnership with Wonder Workshop, the creators of the Dash and Dot robots. Dash and Dot are exciting, hands on learning tools that teach creative problem solving and computational thinking. Through Wonder Workshop’s apps, kids learn to use coding to bring their robots to life, building their knowledge of fundamental 21st century skills.

Our members are having a blast using Dash and Dot during Summer Camp workshops, and we’re looking forward to integrating them into the Afterschool Program curriculum once the school year begins.

Alta Loma Clubhouse Members Make the Grade!

We’re incredibly proud to introduce this year’s First Semester Honor Roll students at the Alta Loma Middle School Clubhouse! 3 of our kids, pictured with red seals on their certificates, earned a 4.0 GPA.

Thanks to programs like Power Hour, the Club’s academic hour, these members are excelling in school and having an amazing time at the Clubhouse.

Preparing for College with Diplomas 2 Degrees

To help fulfill the Club’s vision that every child will achieve academic success and develop a plan for their future, we invited our teens to attend the Diplomas 2 Degrees introductory workshop. D2D is the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s new college readiness program, and provides a range of services to guide Club members as they work toward high school graduation and prepare for post-secondary education and career success.

At the D2D workshop, our middle schoolers and teens explored their dreams of the future, and learned how college and other professional options can help them achieve those goals. They also had a chance to speak with Melissa Saulog, a college counselor from Archbishop Riordan High School, about the keys to academic success.

We’d like to thank San Francisco State University, Expressions College, CSU, Temple University and Boston University for sending us materials to distribute to our members.
