We’re thrilled to announce that Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County has been honored with the 2016 South San Francisco Mayor’s Award. The award was presented by former Mayor Mark Addiego to Club CEO Aubrey Merriman at the Chamber of Commerce‘s Annual Business Awards Dinner.
In his introduction, the former mayor, now a member of City Council, highlighted Aubrey’s history as a Club kid, years of experience as a nonprofit professional, and passion for youth development. Councilmember Addiego also recounted his own experience on the Club’s Board of Directors, during a period when the organization’s future was precarious and uncertain. Those days, he said, have passed. Aubrey’s leadership and drive to “raise the bar” have contributed to the Club’s growth and ability to meet the deep need that remains in South San Francisco.
Aubrey accepted the award on behalf of the 2,600 kids and families that the Club serves, and recognized the wide network of friends, donors, and partners who have supported the organization since its founding in 1953. To hear Councilmember Addiego’s introduction, and Aubrey’s remarks, watch the video below.
It’s always a delight when Torani visits the Club, and their most recent visit was no exception. Our middle schoolers had the opportunity to meet members of Torani’s Research & Development team, who led a presentation about food science and product development. Members tested a variety of Torani products, including their strawberry syrup and caramel sauce. They also learned more about pursuing careers in the food science industry, including the company’s high school internship program.
Orange Park Clubhouse hosted the Club’s annual Winter Arts Showcase on Friday, January 22nd. Continue reading “Celebrating Creativity at the 2016 Winter Arts Showcase”
Torani’s annual holiday visit has become a beloved tradition for Boys & Girls Club kids. This year, they led our members in arts & crafts, brought delicious treats, and even coordinated a visit from Santa Claus himself. We’re so grateful to have Torani as part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County’s family!

Today at the Sunshine Gardens Elementary School Clubhouse, our club fifth grade leaders surprised teachers and came into their holiday party bearing gifts. The principal and teachers were all smiles and were delighted to receive their rainbow soups! We wish all of the teachers and staff a Happy Holiday season!
We would like to thank our friends and family at Genentech for being one of our biggest supporters with today’s grant donation of $10,000! Without companies like Genentech the club would not be able to open it’s doors. We salute them for their ongoing contributions to our youth and teens!!! Happy Holidays!!!
If you and your company would like to contribute to our future generation, contact Jamila at 650.589.7090 ext. 11
