We’re thrilled to announce that Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County has been honored with the 2016 South San Francisco Mayor’s Award. The award was presented by former Mayor Mark Addiego to Club CEO Aubrey Merriman at the Chamber of Commerce‘s Annual Business Awards Dinner.

In his introduction, the former mayor, now a member of City Council, highlighted Aubrey’s history as a Club kid, years of experience as a nonprofit professional, and passion for youth development. Councilmember Addiego also recounted his own experience on the Club’s Board of Directors, during a period when the organization’s future was precarious and uncertain. Those days, he said, have passed. Aubrey’s leadership and drive to “raise the bar” have contributed to the Club’s growth and ability to meet the deep need that remains in South San Francisco.

Aubrey accepted the award on behalf of the 2,600 kids and families that the Club serves, and recognized the wide network of friends, donors, and partners who have supported the organization since its founding in 1953. To hear Councilmember Addiego’s introduction, and Aubrey’s remarks, watch the video below.
