Dear Supporters,

For all of us, there is no playbook for how to handle this crisis. The best we can do is to educate ourselves and muster up the energy to lead and serve with grace, empathy, courage, and strength.  Our community may be sheltering at this moment, but it is far from dormant. Our efforts right now are focused on our Club members and the local community. We are committed to their health and safety and ensuring their continued ability to thrive. We applaud those individuals who are on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis and response. Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County is proud to stand alongside with the City of South San Francisco as they launch South San Francisco Community Volunteer Corps. They are recruiting volunteers to help with the following tasks:
 *  Delivering meals

*  Transportation to and from medical appointments

 *  Transportation to and from grocery stores

 *  Welfare checks

*  Assistance with light household duties, i.e. taking out and putting away trash receptacles, watering front and backyards, etc.

We are asking those interested in helping and those who need help to please visit the City’s dedicated COVID-19 web page, where they can find information on volunteering as well as other resources: https://www.ssf.net/departments/city-manager/novel-coronavirus-covid-19

The Club may mean many things, depending on whom you ask, but there is a singular trait that we can all agree defines the Club — it’s resilience. Throughout our history, this Club has been known for its gritty determination and indomitable spirit in the face of obstacles. This community knows how to face hardship head-on, and I am positive that through a deep sense of community, partnerships with one another, the Club, the City of South San Francisco, and surrounding neighborhoods will come out on the other side of this together, stronger and wiser.  Thank you for being a part of what makes the Club and our communities special.

With gratitude,

Aubrey Merriman
