Our mission is to inspire and enable young people to realize their full potential and contribute to their communities. Our vision and program strategy is rooted on the premise that every child will achieve academic success, be physically active every day and that every child will develop a positive sense of self. We currently serve over 4,000 youth and operate five sites (two in Pacifica and three in South San Francisco). For the last 65 years, BGCNSMC has been a community pillar and a positive, driving force for youth academic empowerment and leadership. BGCNSMC is a dynamic and responsive non -profit organization in North San Mateo County. We partner with schools and the community to ensure that youth of our community are provided with the opportunities, experiences, and support to redefine possibilities, and chart courses to great futures. BGCNSMC reinforces and enhances the skills and knowledge young people learn at school. We create opportunities for high-yield learning and literacy activities. Our programs are designed to ensure that all Club members graduate from high school on time, ready for a post-secondary education, and a 21st-century career.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Site Director is a natural leader, capable of inspiring a shared clubhouse vision that values strong teamwork coupled with a tenacity for programmatic excellence. The site director will manage and mentor multiple full and part-time staff, be a natural problem solver, inspire members, parents, staff and volunteers on a daily basis.

Under the direction and guidance of the Senior Director of Programs, the site director will direct/ manage overall daily clubhouse operations at all three sites in South San Francisco, including our flagship Orange Park Clubhouse. Primary focus will be programmatic sequencing (ensuring programs are efficiently disbursed and running optimally), quality service delivery, direct supervision of on-site staff, arranging staff training and meeting data and outcome measurements. Additional high priorities include community relations, school partnerships, and excellent quality programming for all children and families.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

●  Develop, Model and Manage a positive Boys & Girls Clubhouse that exudes excellence and trust in our community.

●  Recruit, retain, and manage a strong team of direct reports capable of providing outstanding services to young people and their parents and or caregivers.

●  Create and maintain strong parent and volunteer relationships and develop a culture where both groups are engaged and advocate for the Club at a local and national level.

●  Display a high level of enthusiasm and commitment for programmatic activities while ensuring the safety of all members and demonstrating positive values and ethical behavior.

●  Exercise sound and collaborative decision making and problem-solving skills as it relates to general operation of the clubhouse.

●  Provide agency leadership in the areas of programmatic high standards, budget fidelity and a reverence to annual program objectives and goals.

●  Show leadership and develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with other youth serving organizations, members, parents, families, and community organizations.

●  Ensure that staff exemplify professionalism and outstanding teamwork daily.

●  Orient all staff, members, parents, interns and community volunteers in safety protocols, site expectations, and the Boys & Girls Club culture.

●  Guide, model, and train program staff to successfully execute, monitor and embed outcome measurements from inception to conclusion of program design

●  Ensure a team-based work environment by communicating effectively and positively with supervisors, colleagues, and volunteers

●  Supervise the performance of on-site managers and on-site directors and ensure that they are being exposed to best practices and are obtaining real time coaching and updates on their day to day performance.

●  Conduct and attend regular staff meetings and 1:1 check in’s minimally twice a month

●  Demonstrate leadership by ensuring that staff are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills

●  Identify and support training and development opportunities for staff Program Operations

●  Establish Site-specific objectives consistent with our Club’s strategic direction and Great Futures 2025 plan for developing quality program and implementation of effective models.

●  Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with school principals and other key administrative school personnel to plan, develop and implement programs and services;

●  Work with fellow Site Directors, Program Managers and Coordinators to implement outcome- driven programs that engage Club members.

●  Track daily attendance and implement outreach strategies to increase enrollment, stabilize attendance and execute brand visibility both internally and externally

●  Ensure that attendance data and program records are tracked accurately and consistently.

●  Collect and analyze program outcomes to ensure positive impact and overall quality. Prepare reports to BGCNSMC leadership, stakeholders, and funders

●  Develop and implement innovative site-based programs that meet the needs and interests of current and new members.

●  Ensure quality improvement of programs by conducting program evaluations and annual written analysis of member needs and interests. Compile monthly statistical reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation.

●  Utilize student voices to design programs that promote strong social-emotional skills as well as fun recreational and enrichment activities.

●  Conduct program observations, using assessments for feedback on ongoing programs evaluation and improvement.

●  Work in collaboration with the Leadership Team to develop systems and processes to facilitate the collection and dissemination of data generated by programs and to align teen and high school specific programs to the organization’s overall program goals

●  Meet or exceed enrollment, attendance, and other membership metrics

Partnership Development

●  Establish and maintain rapport with schoolteachers, principals and counselors; link curriculum with school districts to ensure alignment in priority areas highlighted by the Club

●  Develop and maintain relationships and collaborations with organizations that can provide advice, direction, and support to the organization’s educational and social emotional initiatives

●  Conduct periodic exhibits and displays of the work done by Club members. Develop strategies to increase visibility of Club programs

●  Maintain open communication with parents, schools, and other stakeholders. Attend school and community meetings as needed

●  Provide parent/guardian and student orientations, encourage student engagement, and maintain monthly conversations with families and the school community

●  Coordinate and work with development to publicize all programs and services within the Club to our external community of stakeholders

●  Be the primary point of contact for club programs in the community and for club tours Resource Management

●  Ensure that recruitment and enrollment numbers meet/exceed year-round targets (attendance and program fees)

●  Execute on grant objectives, program requirements, and accurately report out on results

●  Ensure proper use of site assets including managing facility especially when you used by outside groups

●  Safely transport club students in organization vehicles or on field trips that require public transportation as needed, adhering to all vehicle and field trip policies and procedures

●  Ensure a healthy and safe environment for all participants, staff, partners, volunteers, and families by maintaining facilities, equipment and supplies.

●  Ensure that the facility is running optimally and if any issues arise with the mechanics/maintenance of the club house, that you advise the operations department

●  In partnership with the Senior Director of Programs/ Finance/Operations Director assist in the development and preparation of educational program budgets, grants and special sponsorship opportunities

●  Ensure compliance with organization policies.

● Attend required BGCNSMC and BGCA programs and events
● Transport youth in Club or District vans as needed
● Consult with parents concerning member issues

●  Performs other related duties as assigned by management staff Additional Responsibilities
● Represent BGCNSMC on appropriate committees/collaborations

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• B.A. Degree in related field. Equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that would provide the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the successful performance of the essential job duties will be considered.

●  Previous work experience successfully supervising and managing staff in a youth development environment. Prior Boys & Girls Club experience a plus

●  Knowledge of education programs; how youth learn; how to work effectively with schools, parents and others in the community to support educational achievement

●  Previous work experience planning and implementing educational activities for children and youth.

●  Understanding of child and youth development needs

●  Energy, maturity, leadership skills, strong initiative and ability to motivate youth through positive reinforcement

●  Ability to engage respectfully with youth, public, parents, coworkers, etc.

●  Excellent written and verbal communication skills

●  Ability to pass Criminal Record background check

●  Ability to converse and write fluently in English and Spanish a plus

●  CA/valid driver’s license and clean driving record

●  CPR and First Aid Certification (training will be provided of not current)
